Age of Mara: 7 Month Recap & What's Coming Next
It's been seven months since we started developing Age of Mara, and it feels like the right time to take a step back and share where things stand. Our initial goal was simple: create a small island that really shows what we're capable of. Polished, detailed, and fun.
What we've built so far
Here's a look at what's already in the game:
- An initial zone with a village, combat areas, and a boss catacomb
- A playable character with skills, gear, and interactions
- Inventory and trading systems: player-to-player and NPC
- Mob drops and experience mechanics
- Combat stat and equipment systems
- Party and clan functionality
- NPC and mob AI
More importantly, everything is properly replicated on the server. The netcode works correctly, which is critical for an MMORPG.
What we're focusing on next
Looking ahead, the main development priorities are:
- Enhanced mob and boss AI
- Improved visual effects and NPC interactions
- Party system refinement and PvP development
- Basic quest implementation
- Crafting and gathering mechanics
- Polishing existing content over expansion
Final words
We're confident in our structured approach and committed to regular progress. If you have any feedback or thoughts, we'd love to hear from you. Thanks for following along!
